How to Play Spin the Bottle: Rules, Scoring and Tactics
The rules, scoring system and winning tactics of Spin the Bottle — how to play it at a café on phones, with no sign-up, step by step.
Spin the Bottle is the truth-or-dare classic with stagecraft: a virtual bottle spins on every phone at once and stops on the same person everywhere — no physics arguments, all of the thrill.
How to play
- Players sit around a virtual round table in join order (3-12 players).
- The active player taps Spin; the server picks the target and angle, and the animation plays identically on every phone.
- The chosen player picks Truth or Dare; the prompt appears on every screen.
- The deed happens in real life, the chosen player taps Done, and the bottle passes to them.
Scoring and winning
There are no points — deliberately: it keeps the show and the conversation from being sacrificed to competition. If someone idles for 45 seconds the bottle moves on by itself. Prompts never repeat within a room, and anything added in the admin panel joins the pool.
Tactics that win the table
- The bottle can't point at the spinner — the server draws the target from the other players, so the classic 'it landed on me, respin!' argument doesn't exist here.
- Dares are café-friendly, but read the table's energy: warm a shy group up with truths before escalating.
- Want scores? Switch to the sibling game that shares the same prompt pool: Truth or Dare?
Who is it for?
Loud, crowded, show-loving tables. The fastest icebreaker there is for groups that just met.
