How to Play Name City Animal: Rules, Scoring and Tactics
The rules, scoring system and winning tactics of Name City Animal — how to play it at a café on phones, with no sign-up, step by step.
Name City Animal is the schoolyard classic reborn on phones: a letter drops, categories fill, the first to finish calls STOP. Paper fights are replaced by automatic scoring and a challenge vote.
How to play
- The server draws a letter; everyone fills the categories (name, city, animal, plant, object, celebrity) with that letter (2-12 players).
- The first player with a full sheet unlocks the STOP button; pressing it gives everyone else 5 seconds.
- Answers reveal category by category: unique 10, duplicate 5, invalid 0 points.
- Anyone can challenge a fishy answer; the table votes for 10 seconds and a majority voids it.
Scoring and winning
Scoring is fully automatic and language-aware — on English tables letters come from the English alphabet and case folds accordingly. After the rounds (3 or 5 letters) the final standings appear. Letters never repeat within a match.
Tactics that win the table
- Long, rare words are the key to unique 10s — 'Cat' arrives from everyone and splits the points.
- Use STOP as a weapon: an early STOP while rivals think turns their ordinary answers into 5s.
- Don't waste challenges: each answer can only be challenged once — save it for the truly suspicious.
